Join the Bunyaan Robotics Competition Team

BIOBUZZ is the 2026-27 FIRST Tech Challenge. Teams get a kit of parts and a rulebook, and a few months to build a robot that can compete against other teams. Bunyaan is putting together its first competition team, and we are looking for young people aged 12 to 18 to join it.

The team

What it takes

Building a competition robot takes both technical and personal skills. We need people who can code, wire, design and build, and people who can write, present, organise and work well in a team under pressure. Most team members end up doing some of each.

Why join

What you get

You will work alongside professional engineers, researchers and software developers, learn Java, CAD and 3D printing, and compete as part of a team you helped build.

Before you apply

Commitment and cost

4 hours

Every weekend at our lab in Edinburgh, with mentors present throughout

£50

Per month, covering the mentoring and the team's competition hardware

Ages 12-18

Open to young people in this age range

There will be extra sessions as competitions approach.

If the team qualifies for national or international events, we will look at travel costs then and families may be asked to contribute.

Nobody is turned away over money. If the fee is a problem, email ftc@bunyaan.org.uk in confidence.
